Despite being a self-acclaimed introvert, Melt is anything but on the job. He’s the go-to guy for advice, whether it’s about the quickest route from Bucklands Beach to Pukekohe (the edges of our service area) or choosing the best coffee for the breakroom. His versatility and hands-on approach mean he’s involved in almost every aspect of the business.
Managing the business means Melt has many responsibilities. He’s the watchful eye over operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. When it comes to financials, Melt is the guy burning the midnight oil, analysing numbers, and making tough decisions to keep the company on solid ground. His financial acumen helps Dominator SEA weather any economic storm and emerge stronger.
Beyond the numbers and strategic plans, Melt is deeply invested in his team’s success and wellbeing. He’s dedicated to creating an environment where his team has everything they need to provide top-notch service, whether it’s ensuring they have the right tools and training or just lending a listening ear.
Melt’s Background and Experience
After spending years in the thick of the corporate rat race, Melt was left looking for an opportunity to keep his mind active without the corporate bureaucracy. Enter Dominator. Melt’s journey with Dominator started before the South and East Auckland dealership, with Dominator Hamilton in 2020, where he learnt all the ins and outs of the garage door game.
His tenure at Dominator Hamilton allowed him to refine his leadership skills, navigate the challenges of a competitive market, and develop a deep understanding of customer needs. This experience proved invaluable when he entered a joint venture with his son Jako to acquire Dominator SEA in early 2023. Whether strategising for growth, optimising operations, or enhancing customer satisfaction, Melt’s extensive background ensures that Dominator SEA operates smoothly and efficiently.
Melt’s Keys to Success
Taking over Dominator SEA has seen Melt take on his fair share of challenges, from acquiring the business on the heels of Covid 19 to steering it through our current economic downturn. There have been plenty of hurdles, to say the least. But through it all, Melt’s leadership has seen Dominator SEA thrive and grow during uncertain times.
His secret to success is always looking for the bigger picture. Not every crisis is the end of the world; sometimes, your own people are more important than someone else’s latest crisis. This people-first approach has been crucial in navigating tough times and is a cornerstone of Dominator SEA’s continued success.
When Melt’s not working, you can find him fishing. A sunny day by the water with a fishing rod in hand is his idea of a perfect weekend. He enjoys the peace and quiet of nature, but what really makes it special is spending time with family, sharing stories, and creating memories. For Melt, there’s nothing better than a good catch and quality family time.
